About The Studio

Frank Buchwald’s studio, founded in 1998, is dedicated to the design and production of handcrafted furniture and lighting. Operating from a Berlin workshop nestled within a historic 1871 industrial courtyard, the studio shares space with ateliers of artisans skilled in woodwork, wood carving, and glass fabrication. This unique setting merges tradition with modernity, where creations range from classical metalwork to cutting-edge technologies like laser cutting, achieving an inspired blend of the old and the new.

In 2002, Frank Buchwald made a pivotal shift, steering the studio towards a more purely artistic vision. This transition allowed him to focus primarily on the development of his Machine Lights and Nixie Clocks, cementing his reputation for creating extraordinary, avant-garde designs.
